Psychiatry in Lenexa, KS
I am Aliyah Ellis, APRN, PMHNP-BC, a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, and my office is the next town over from you. Lenexa is the closest city to my practice — about ten minutes from most of it — so if you have been looking for psychiatric care without a drive into Kansas City, this is probably the shortest trip you will find. I see adults and adolescents age 13 and up, in person or by telehealth anywhere in Kansas.
Getting here from Lenexa
My office is at 13470 S Arapaho Dr., Suite 180, Olathe, KS 66062, near 135th and US-69.
South Lenexa (66220, 66227) — about eight minutes down Renner Boulevard or K-7.
Central and north Lenexa (66215, 66219) — ten to fifteen minutes on K-10 to US-69, or straight down Pflumm.
In-office days are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Lenexa, Olathe and the K-10 corridor
If you live in Lenexa and work in Olathe or along the K-10 corridor, an in-person appointment is easy to fit around a workday — the office is close enough that a visit does not cost you a half day. If you commute the other direction, toward Kansas City, telehealth is usually the better fit, and I am happy to do every visit that way.
What I treat
ADHD in adults and teens — evaluation, diagnosis and medication management
Anxiety disorders — generalized anxiety, panic disorder, social anxiety, OCD, PTSD
Depression and mood disorders
Most people arrive with more than one of these tangled together, plus poor sleep. I look at the whole picture rather than treating one symptom at a time.
How I practice
The first appointment is about ninety minutes and unhurried on purpose — I would rather get the diagnosis right once than make you come back for a second evaluation. I generally diagnose at that first visit.
From there, treatment might be medication management, GeneSight testing when it would actually change a decision, brief psychotherapy and skills work with me, a referral out for ongoing weekly therapy while I keep managing medication, or lifestyle and sleep changes. I explain what each medication does and why I am suggesting it, and you are part of the decision. I am cautious and individualized about stimulants rather than routine, and I prescribe benzodiazepines only rarely and short-term.
Adolescents
I see teens from 13 up. A parent or guardian attends the first visit for anyone under 18.

Common questions
Is there a Lenexa office? No — one office, in Olathe, about ten minutes away. I am not going to list a Lenexa address I do not practice at.
You show up in Lenexa listings. Why? My Psychology Today profile uses a Lenexa ZIP because it is inside my service area and close to the office. The office itself is in Olathe.
Are you a psychiatrist? I am a psychiatric nurse practitioner — PMHNP-BC, MSN from Spring Arbor University, nine years of nursing experience. I diagnose and prescribe.
How soon can I get in? Call and ask — I am a solo practice and I keep my own schedule, so there is no intake department between you and an appointment.
Telehealth rules? You need to be physically in Kansas at the time of the visit. Kansas license only.
Crisis? I am not an emergency service. Call or text 988 or go to the nearest emergency department — AdventHealth Lenexa City Center and Olathe Medical Center are both nearby.
